Allotment Community Volunteering

Volunteers can contribute positively to our allotment community and enjoy a rewarding gardening experience. There are a variety of volunteering opportunities to consider:

 

On our communal plot -generally around our site -helping at events and other activities -helping individual plot holders.  

 

Tasks could include turning over soil, clearing brambles, building compost bins,

or laying down woodchips for paths. Volunteering comes with rules and

guidelines set by the Committee to ensure smooth running and to maintain a

positive and safe environment for those involved, we can also provide tools and

a friendly cuppa for volunteers.

Our site has specific rules that volunteers must follow, including guidelines

on working time, tool usage, waste disposal, plant care and keeping safe.

Allotment gardening is often a team effort, so it's essential to work either

with other volunteers and respective plot holders in sharing tasks, helping each

other out, and communicating to ensure work is done efficiently.

Additionally, volunteers can help maintain allotment space, do some watering

and weeding, keep the allotments tidy,

We can show you how to use tools correctly, provide protective gear, and ensure you are aware of potential hazards

Greenbank Lane Allotments actively promotes sustainability and environmental conservation. We seek to protect the environment by using organic gardening practices, minimising waste, and supporting wildlife conservation efforts.
